American officials claimed on Thursday that a Chinese satellite technology company with links to the CCP military is actively assisting the Houthi rebels in Yemen with their repeated attacks on U.S. warships.
The Financial Times cited U.S. government insiders who alleged Chang Guang Satellite Technology has been supplying the Iran-backed Houthis with imagery to directly aid in assaults on the American military ships stationed in the Red Sea.
A senior state department official told the outlet, “The United States has raised our concerns privately numerous times to the Chinese government on Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co Ltd’s role in supporting the Houthis in order to get Beijing to take action.”
The official noted “Beijing’s tacit support” of the attacks amid Trump administration warnings serves as “yet another example of China’s empty claims to support peace.”
State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce held a press briefing this week, stating, “China consistently attempts … to frame itself as a global peacemaker … however, it is clear that Beijing and China-based companies provide key economic and technical support to regimes like Russia, North Korea and Iran and its proxies.”
Bruce also said, “The US will not tolerate anyone providing support to foreign terrorist organizations such as the Houthis.”
This stern message by the U.S. was followed by the American military launching a Friday attack on a Yemeni oil port that killed 74 people, making the strikes the deadliest assault so far by the Trump administration.
U.S. Central Command stated, “U.S. forces took action to eliminate this source of fuel for the Iran-backed Houthi terrorists and deprive them of illegal revenue that has funded Houthi efforts to terrorize the entire region for over 10 years.”
“This strike was not intended to harm the people of Yemen, who rightly want to throw off the yoke of Houthi subjugation and live peacefully,” the American military added.
Liu Pengyu, a spokesperson for China’s Washington embassy, said he was not familiar with the situation and had no comment.
The Chang Guang Satellite Technology Company is a joint venture with the Changchun Institute of Optics, Jilin Provincial Government and Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP) under the state-run Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The Chinese government has given the company hundreds of millions of dollars to fund its satellite projects and the American government previously placed sanctions on it during the 2023 Ukraine war, allegedly providing high-resolution satellite imagery to Russia’s Wagner Group mercenaries.
ZeroHedge provided a graphic exposing the company’s connections to the Chinese government:

The Chinese military allegedly using one of its proxy companies to assist Iranian-backed rebel fighters in striking U.S. military warships comes as America and the CHICOMs are in a heated trade war with massive tariffs and China’s President Xi Jinping banning exports of rare earth minerals to the States.
